Host needs work. Lacks depth
Whilst Tully has provided great insight over this medium as a guest on a number of other podcasts, she seemingly lacks the desire to truly shine the spotlight on her guests as she continues to interject with her own responses to questions before they can get stuck in. A lot of listeners are tuning in to learn more about the businesses or side hustles of her guests but by constantly cutting in and equating herself or conflating her opinions with that of her guests she then comes off as self-interested. Eg. When asking Elle Ferguson what impact removing likes has had, she’s clearly listening to respond and fails to acknowledge that their experiences of this are totally different, jumping in to finish off her response. This habit needs a lot of work. Or when she assumes that Elle can choose her work because of the size of her profile (perhaps driven by comparison?) - no, apparently she’s chosen to do that. Also some of the discourse does no favours for the perceptions of the “influencer” trade. Like that totally tone deaf anecdote by one guest aiming to promote their sense of compassion (?) by declaring she “burst into tears seeing a homeless person” 🙄🤯🤯🤯 Or shamelessly begging to be taken to the Maldives for free...... it’s not a good look. What I’d be interested to hear more about is where they see the market for this work diversifying in future. To plug a roster of products and services in and of itself isn’t inspiring or something that calls for much talent. What I can respect though is that some of these guests have created something beyond freebies and #spon posts and have legitimate businesses and initiatives of their own. Laura Byrne was a great example and refreshing to see how she’s built something of her own, largely independent of influencer networks, it’s clear that her world doesn’t revolve that way. To that point, women like Nadia Bartel and Bec Judd would be amazing influential women to hear more from and could shift us away from the freebie #sp stereotype and conversations led by stroking each other’s egos.

I thought this would be good, but it’s basically just influencers talking about how hard their lives are, which to be honest just isn’t relatable. Not a lot of interesting “behind the scenes” info, it’s mostly just influencers describing their days. For example: lily brown complaining that...Read full review »

Agree with the other low comments. This podcast is uninteresting and I really don’t find Tully engaging.

I really enjoyed the first few episodes. Tully’s backstory was interesting and she has a great podcast voice. However, by about the third episode, you get sick of hearing the same script every time. While it’s fine to have a question template, the conversation should be tailored to each guest....Read full review »
