I love this podcast!!!! Erica rocks! Update- I still love this podcast but there’s no rhyme or reason as to when she drops episodes and there’s always some lame excuse why she hasn’t. It’s annoying. Update to the update- over a month and no new episode or explanation why…

Monotone wannabe activist. “For those in the black community, I stand with you. I feel you… Not really though, I’m here sitting in a chair talking about it.”

When it comes to guilt and innocence in true crime stories I pretty much always have my mind made up. However, Erica’s research and following narrative has made me think, stop and consider, and occasionally left me wondering what was the right thing to see that justice was realized. So thanks!...Read full review »

I used to love this podcast, but the ads have taken over! It feels like more ads than actual story. I listen to a lot of podcast and this one by far has the most ads.
Mamaduke84 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 05/17/24
Insane amount of ads with the podcast.

I love this podcast! I grew up in Nashville and enjoy Southern crime and history. Erica thoroughly researches each podcast and has the gift of weaving the story together in a coherent matter. In other words, her shows are easy to follow, even the complicated crime stories. My only negative...Read full review »

I really don’t understand the high reviews for this podcast. She somehow manages to take really interesting cases and make them extremely boring with here monotone voice. I’m just going to assume the reviewers haven’t listened to good podcasts.

I’m southern to the core and LOVE this podcast! Anxiously await every new story!

Stories are well researched & written. I just want to here the story in an objective way! I don’t want to hear the podcaster’s views, feelings, religion, or politics thrown into the story. I usually listen to this podcast for a couple of months at a time. Then I can’t take it anymore, and I...Read full review »

This is such a disappointing review to leave, because the quality of the content and the story telling is really good. But the number and length of ad breaks is wild and very obtrusive. Would be an easy five stars without the excessive ads.

I love the brutal honesty. They obviously do very in-depth investigations. I love hearing all sides.

I was hooked after a few minutes. Erica Kelley has possibly the most wonderful voice of any female podcaster to come out of the country, with not a trace of that current, lazy “vocal-fry” scourge that seems to have gripped so many others. Exceptionally well-researched content, her delicious...Read full review »

I wish I could discover this podcast all over again. The structure of the episodes is great, the story is thorough, well-researched, and Erica is insightful and sensitive. So good!

I enjoy the variety of stories told on the podcast, but I do think more diligence would be prudent in the research of the towns involved. I know for a fact there have been instances where the geographical descriptions of locations were wholly incorrect, and some historical facts about the time...Read full review »

I love this podcast but I can’t deal with all the commercials. No other podcaster has this many. I’m not alway near my phone to skip them. Way too many

The stories are good. And the narrator’s voice is pleasant but she reads the script with little emotion. Like a robot. She shows more emotion reading the credits.

I keep trying but just can’t find a podcast as good as this one! Very detail oriented but also insightful and sympathetic. True crime at its best

I am from Arkansas and it’s not often that I hear a podcast covering a case from my state. I love the south and I am familiar with the unique crimes prevalent here. I love Southern Fried True Crime. I’ve been a long-time listener and I feel episode 210 is probably some Erica Kelly’s best work, second behind The Ballad of Zack and Addie. *chefs kiss and mad respect*

The episodes of this podcast always seem thoroughly researched and fairly presented. The narrator is one of my favorites. She speaks at a pace that is measured without being stilted, and is easy to understand.

Stoppp with the black crime!! Black crime is so common that it’s not even interesting. You’re white, Erica. Stick with your own race and let the blacks cover their own cases.

I love this podcast, it’s well researched & the accent & narration easy to listen to. Unfortunately a couple of episodes include distressing 911 calls which I think are unnecessary to add.

I’m happy that I listened to the most recent podcasts first. Listening to the early ones and the phony white privilege installed in the episodes was ridiculous. Finally on track and presenting facts and not phony ideology.

Erica Kelly, I would just like to share with you how much I am enjoying your southern fried true crime podcast. I found you by listening to Crime Junkie and The Deck. It’s absolutely appropriate that the podcast circuit, is at long last, fading away. This one is near the top for cringy, opinionated content, and I swear more ads than actual show. From reading the reviews I note that there are a lot of Aussie fans - and I’ve joined them! I sure do wish there was a pay option, rather than listening to the NUMEROUS, and ever-increasing number of ads. I used to love this podcast. Erica was a true Southerner. I loved her accent, her snarky comments and the stores she told. For the past year I feel like her comments have turned old and mean. I have listened to your podcasts for a long time, have enjoyed them. I am curious why you added background music. I find it irritating, it adds nothing to the podcast and I think it is distracting and takes away from the podcast. Enjoy the podcasts but not the background music

Great voice and excellent writing. My only criticism is the song playing in background. Its out of hand. It’s just strange to play it over and over and over under the narration, don’t understand why.
