Yaacov Avinu's Small Jars
Dear Mr. Sacks, thank you for your continued inspiration and empowering lectures. Regarding the source for the "small jars," see the Sfas Emes where Yaacov Avinu has the dream and wakes up to find the stones united into one and a jar of oil. The oil was not their before he went to sleep. Yaacov understands that this oil was to annoint the unified stone. When he pours the contents out, he observed that the jar miraculously was full of oil. Yaacov then realized that he was to keep this jar of oil. Says the Sfas Emes this jar of oil was the one that eventually used in the miracle of Chanukkah. May the light of Chanukka illuminate your life. gratefully, MeirRead full review »
