Former greatness
Some years ago all the spycast interviews were conducted by Mark Stout, a former CIA agent. The podcasts were universally fascinating. Spies, former terrorists, and ex-KGB agents make for interesting discussions. Unfortunately, now almost all of the interviews are now conducted by Vince Houghton, a historian who can make a colossal bore out of the most interesting subjects. Unlike Stout, when he interviews an author he doesn't appear to have read the author's book. Instead of asking questions to elicit the author to repeat the most interesting points from his book, he wastes everyone's time with general questions about the process of writing a book like "how did you come to write this book?" and "did you have trouble finding such and such source?". The author is interesting because of the content of his book, not because the drudgery of the writing process is interesting. Houghton also has an irritating habit of asking questions whose point is to show off his own knowledge of the obscure facts of history, which he simply assumes that the listener will also know. This used to be my favorite podcast, and now I won't even listen to it. Houghton has turned it into roadkill, and then he keeps backing the car right over it for some added gore.Read full review »

This podcast used to be great but now all it is is a outlet for Nazis and commuists who have infiltrated our government and will soon take over the United Nations.
