Informative and Entertaining
I count myself somewhat of a Tolkien expert, at least when it comes to the core novels of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, having read the books many times, read some of the supporting material and even some literary criticism about the books. It's evident to me that Father Roderick has done his homework and created an enthralling and enriching podcast. He does not as yet seem to have tapped into the Silmarillion or other supplementary works, but his coverage of the core themes, characters, and symbols present in Lord of the Rings is pretty much spot on. I've even learned a thing or two. I also like his use of the new Lord of the Rings online game as a vehicle for his storytelling and explication. I've recently given up gaming, but the ambiance of the world beautifully augments Father Roderick's melodic voice. I'm looking forward to listening to his future forays into Middle Earth.Read full review »
