“I'm not going to lie, Startripper!! is one of my favorite audio dramas to relax and unwind with. When the first two episodes dropped, I immediately fell in love with the show's unique tone, comfortingly retro-futuristic music, and, of course, Ian Mcquown's voice! The stories are cute and small, bite-sized bits of satisfaction delivered to your ears every other Saturday.
Of course, with the good comes the bad. Although I don't usually read transcripts while listening to audio dramas, the editing (or is it recording?) quality has sometimes made that necessary. This isn't a huge problem for the most part, and the fact that the transcripts are accessible is definitely amazing!
Maybe my biggest problem with the show however: Startripper!! now has five episodes, and an overwhelming masculine-to-feminine voice ratio. Excluding Proxy, and a couple voices in episode one, there are no feminine voices or, indeed, characters explicitly designated women (and possibly no characters explicitly designated non-men!)
