Charming and diverting
Emily has a chronic illness. She's a writer who previously worked as a Marriage and Family Therapist. Kumail is an actor/comedian. EmiIy's illness has required her to self isolate at times, and to alter how she encounters the world while they, as a couple, have worked together achieve their own new normalcy. They apply what they've learned to the current situation. The podcast is companionable and light, but thoughtful as well as very much on point for people who are dealing with similar issues. With practical suggestions mixed in there. Your mileage may vary, but to me it's also laugh out loud funny. I turned this on not knowing what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. I do think there's a simple soothing quality for those whose lives diverge from those around them (due to illness or whatever) to be able to hear people talking about the things that are so vital to them. As though these thoughts and feelings can live outside their own brains and bodies, are something other than a mutation or aberration, but a thing as commonplace as anything you can see right in front of you. In case it needs saying--you do not have to have an illness to enjoy this. My experience is nothing like theirs, but I found it charming and diverting. Thank you for podcasting, Emily and Kumail!Read full review »

It’s great to have them back sharing casual conversations and observations, as well as really good advice for coping with the sudden shift in the world. Of...Read full review »
