“If you like Science Friday, you'll love STEMTalk. Ira Flatow and team give a quick fly-by of lots of cool and timely science topics that are lots of fun, but STEMTalk goes WAY deeper. Hosts Dawn Kernagis and Ken Ford, both PhD's themselves, may not have Ira's smooth polish (yet), but their deep and broad knowledge allow them to ask on-point questions of a surprisingly broad array of pioneering scientists - e.g. human health, cosmology, oceanography, neuroscience, aerospace and defense - that end up being fascinating conversations from the real frontiers of science. With their depth, they can take any subject in surprising directions that are just way cool - my favorite so far being the episode with "Skunk" Baxter who's love of guitars made him a founder of Steely Dan and then soon after a central payer in The Doobie Brothers (the guy in the back left on "Minute By Minute" cover), but then by viritue of involvement in early digital music and signal processing technology found his way into missile defense technology and strategies. Having just listened to the most recent episode w Dr Suzana Herculano about some frontiers in Neuroscience, I can only say that her subject might be an excellent description of the podcast itself - "Brain Soup." You know... mix a bunch of diverse and fresh ingredients in a tasty broth, cook slowly, and let your brain savor it ;-)”Read full review »

And, besides the obvious take-aways...”Read full review »

“I have no idea how you're able to persuade the most interesting people in the world to appear on STEM-Talk. Actually, I don't need to know. Just keep em coming. These interviews have a way of making science relevant.”
