English Riots
Just listened to the episode on the Riots in England. I thought the reasons discussed were coming from a well off middle class perspective. The abject poverty and deprivation experienced by many in communities due to Tory austerity, lack of investment a real crisis in living costs was not discussed. The promises given and broken regarding Brexit and Levelling Up and the role played in the kindling and stoking of the anti immigrant fire by MP’s from the last government and their mouthpieces in the right wing press is in my humble opinion a reason for the hate and violence. The MP’s responsible for the anti immigrant feeling should be done with hate speech crimes so should the editorial staff at certain newspapers in the UK. I just wish the people who feel impoverished and have no viable future would see who the real enemy is. The people who gave millions to already rich bankers while hammering the poor. A Tory government policy that has played out time and time again. Taking from the working class and giving to the richest. Divide and Rule is a deliberate policy.

Fantastic listen - analysis and interview. Less cynicism than other political podcasts . One for those of us who still believe in the power of politics and the goodness of politicians
