So at first I really like this podcast. I had seen Steve at the Edinburgh festival long before the podcast was born and thoroughly enjoyed the shows. However, over time his analysis seems hackneyed and superficial. I think that perhaps the political world has changed since Steve’s heyday and it...Read full review »

Steve, did you see the Harris-Trump debate? Harris destroyed Trump. Did you see the many times Waltz, Harris, Obama absolutely ridiculed and crushed Trump? You are rewriting history. The left behind is probably the right diagnosis, and that most voters weren’t listening or believed Trump’s lies....Read full review »

Love Steve Richards’ podcast. I listen to a lot of political podcasts (including The Rest Is Politics and News Agents) and this is by far the most thoughtful and nuanced out there if you’re after something that goes beyond just ‘what happened’. Thanks for making sense of things, Steve!

Just listened to the episode on the Riots in England. I thought the reasons discussed were coming from a well off middle class perspective. The abject poverty and deprivation experienced by many in communities due to Tory austerity, lack of investment a real crisis in living costs was not...Read full review »

Steve provides wonderful insights on the political scene based on his experience garnered in a long careeer in political journalism. Highly recommended.

Interesting and insightful nuggets wrapped up in a monologue of relentless repetition, unbecoming snide, ear-bleeding partisionship and personal animosity. A bit of a slog.

I’m thoroughly enjoying this podcast - probably the best political podcast out there. Steve is a brilliant host and presents an excellent piece of work.

Love this podcast. Gives great insight into the political situation and able to draw on historical knowledge of politics to put it into an historical perspective. Excellent.

It was the repetition that made me realise that there’s not loads of insight in this show. The mention of Lord Frosty Frost again in todays show made me stop listening.

The best political analyst show regarding uk politics. Steve Richards goes in depth to the policies of the various parties in the uk, while always having a little fun and certainly knows his history. Never dry, just enough humour and irony to make the point. Used to watch him whenever on...Read full review »

Rock&Roll Politics has become a permanent and much anticipated fixture of my weekly podcast “roster”. Steve is wonderfully informed, articulate and engaging. Perfect programme for troubled times.

On pain of death I am writing a good review for Steve Richard’s regular round up of Westminster politics. If you’ve seen Steve live, or even managed to catch his BBC4 tv shows (now archived on YouTube- they’re a must watch), he is delivering a breathless monologue inspired most often by recent...Read full review »

A “must listen” every week. I’ve been a big fan of Steve Richards as a journalist for a long time but his podcast allows him to commentate expansively on the state of politics and the weeks events. By far the most in-depth analysis of current UK politics. Steve Richards provides deep and informed insights into how we got here-always citing historical events and facts. Listen in and be impressed!

Really interesting podcast! Its sweep which includes looking back to pre war events and forward to future possibilities, gives it real substance. No chit chat between presenters (and all the better for this) but good interaction with listeners and regular audience attendees. Top notch show!

This is the go to political podcast for me. Steve is the perfect antidote to much of the vapid and vacuous coverage of politics in Britain, with a level of depth, insight and nuance which many political editors could do well to adopt. Issues and topics are explored in-depth, context provided and...Read full review »

I like to save this podcast up each week because while some shows are nice to have on in the background, RocknRoll should be given the space that it’s presenter gives us in his calm, gentle and extensive coverage of events. I listen regularly. Steve is an excellent analyst with an enormous grasp of the dynamics history and context of political events. Steve must be one of the hardest-working commentators out there. His podcasts are an excellent insight into the week’s events and are a “must listen to” every week. His “Rock ‘n Roll Politics” shows are always worth going to as well. On top of all that, he’s a really nice guy!
