Great show if you want to be informed and have the madness of British politics contextualised

On pain of death I am writing a good review for Steve Richard’s regular round up of Westminster politics. If you’ve seen Steve live, or even managed to catch his BBC4 tv shows (now archived on YouTube- they’re a must watch), he is delivering a breathless monologue inspired most often by recent...Read full review »

I’ve done it! I’ve parted with £5.99 a month to join Patreon because I could not stand another week of missing the subscriber only episodes Steve presents! Already very excited to be able to access them and hear about past elections; political rivals; New Labour preparing for power and of course...Read full review »

Steve is such a warm, genuine, funny and perceptive man. His USPs are his historical perspective on everything and his interactions with his listener community, "the co-operative". A wonderful, unmissable podcast.Read full review »

A “must listen” every week. I’ve been a big fan of Steve Richards as a journalist for a long time but his podcast allows him to commentate expansively on the state of politics and the weeks events. His engagement with his listeners, the “Rock and Roll co-operative” is idiosyncratic and all the...Read full review »

By far the most in-depth analysis of current UK politics. Steve Richards provides deep and informed insights into how we got here-always citing historical events and facts. Listen in and be impressed!

Steve Richards has a rare pedigree for covering UK politics: he’s written books on past prime ministers, has an encyclopaedic knowledge of elections, combined with a broadcast journalist’s understanding of who to make potentially dry matter engaging and interesting. I had a friend who complained...Read full review »

Really interesting podcast! Its sweep which includes looking back to pre war events and forward to future possibilities, gives it real substance. No chit chat between presenters (and all the better for this) but good interaction with listeners and regular audience attendees. Top notch show!

Richards steps away brilliantly from the melee to give listeners the context behind the headlines and explain how modern Britain is governed.

Love, love, love this podcast and Steve Richard’s in general. He gives first rate analysis and context to help make sense of the political climate. Steve is so funny and genuinely likeable. I am so grateful this podcast exists as it helps me make sense of UK politics rather than merely stating...Read full review »

This is the go to political podcast for me. Steve is the perfect antidote to much of the vapid and vacuous coverage of politics in Britain, with a level of depth, insight and nuance which many political editors could do well to adopt. Issues and topics are explored in-depth, context provided and...Read full review »

I like to save this podcast up each week because while some shows are nice to have on in the background, RocknRoll should be given the space that it’s presenter gives us in his calm, gentle and extensive coverage of events. As someone whose first vote was 2017 Steve helps me contextualise the...Read full review »

I love this podcast. Steve is clearly very knowledgeable and always offers lots for us to chew over. The length of the podcast is satisfying, offering depth and detail.

Always a great listen and Steve gives his subject plenty of space to breath enabling that deeper dive into the detail. He also gives his co-op the opportunity to engage & comment!

I listen regularly. Steve is an excellent analyst with an enormous grasp of the dynamics history and context of political events. However, he has certain catch phrases and verbal tics which I don’t find endearing e.g. “Yeah” “We’re going to delve deep” “In our time together “ “If it’s alright...Read full review »

Steve must be one of the hardest-working commentators out there. His podcasts are an excellent insight into the week’s events and are a “must listen to” every week. His “Rock ‘n Roll Politics” shows are always worth going to as well. On top of all that, he’s a really nice guy!
