Great Premise/Horrible Narration
Edit: as the episodes go on, Sharon is getting a little more comfortable with her narration, but it still sounds very forced and obvious she’s reading a script. I gave one extra star. I immediately switched over to Strangeland after hearing an advertisement for it on Crime Junkies this morning. I listened to the trailer and wanted to start listening to the podcast right away. As soon as I started listening, I was immediately turned off by the childish and robotic narration by Sharon Choi. I love to give people the benefit of the doubt, however, it is clear that Choi is reading off of a script. Even her interactions with her cohost sound completely scripted, whereas, he sounds relaxed and authentic. Choi sounds like she is a third grader attempting to learn how to read in elementary school. The show has a fantastic plot line and (so far) a thrilling story, however, I don’t know if I’ll be able to get past the narration in the story. I’ll keep listening to future episodes and see if I have an update.
