I wanted to fall in love with Stranglers
I wanted to fall in love with this podcast. Everything about it was right up my alley—an overall look at the human condition, an unsolved mystery, and a serial killer or killers. What's not to love? The mid-podcast commercials for one thing. The narrator guides you through the tale of the Boston Strangler, then about 25 minutes in, she starts telling you about recipes and how to make a heathy dinner— delivered right to your door! What's even better, once you're done eating dinner, why not listen to an audible book? And this goes on for five minutes or so. I was so completely pulled out of the story, the mystery, everything—I was left feeling taken, set-up, angry. And even if the advertising would be removed, the story feels tired and very dated— and not dated because it happened in the early 1960s, or many of the interviews are decades old. But because the entire production feels like a slow rehash of documentaries we've watched or heard a million times before. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. And with a clear conscience I could not recommend this podcast to anyone.Read full review »

I like the research and the story but the main narrator's voice is...off. It feels almost campy. Maybe it's the writing?Read full review »
