British museum is amazing but...
I visited the British museum a year ago and was totally amazed. The exhibitions from across the globe were amazing. Particularly the Greek/Roman marble sculptures and the iron work sculptures from Benin. I was so overwhelmed with the art I never once thought of how they ended up in London. Whilst I respect the desire to have these incredible works of art and heritage displayed in their country of origin, I just wonder whether the millions that see these works each year at this location would ever get such an opportunity to understand the broad history, culture and creativity that past people lived. Some of these countries no longer allow for such works. Ultimately, they belong where they originated. So what could we do that allows such great and important works such exposure as the BM offers?
