Nothing new said, no minds changed
No one on this pod ever expresses an opinion other than those widely held and often heard from folks on one side of an argument.Questions aren’t debated thoughtfully, no one ever changes their mind. The host seems insufficient to the task. The only novel/redeeming part to this show is when they get word from the ‘man on the street’ re their beliefs. Too bad. Had high hopes for this

More reviews of Sweet Reason
The BBC adopts the classic style of pitting one person against another which I find prevents any exploration of ideas. I also note that the experts interviewed tend to be journalists, who are not experts. Academics, lawyers, doctors, teachers and so on would be much more helpful.

I like the format. One of the issues I have with debates, even Intelligence Squared, is that they only offer two sides. It is much better to try to find common ground and identify outstanding questions as that moves the discussion forward.

Always thought provoking. Only wish it was a bit longer. 27 mins is not enough!
