32: Asking for a Friend: Connecting to My Own Pleasure and Calmness after Sexual Abuse
Listen now
Description
(NB. Trigger warning about childhood sexual trauma and child marriage) This is a coaching-style episode that starts with Anne Bland and her guest, Francy, catching up with Francy's sexual healing journey over the last six months when they first met on the "Life With Francy" podcast. For the first time, on that episode, Francy shared publically about her childhood sexual trauma by her biological father and her child marriage when she was only 14. Having been culturally conditioned that pleasure is only for a man and it's a woman's duty to serve their needs, Francy has come a long way and now talks about mental health and her polyamory on her podcast, providing hope and a roadmap that things can be different. At the end of the episode, Anne guides Francy through a process of re-wiring her nervous system into calmness when it comes to pleasure in the midst of two conflicting cultures: those of Puerto Rico and the USA. If you feel triggered by this story please reach out for help. You can also email Anne to see if you want to come on the Asking for a Friend episode or to explore private coaching. Please note that if you have an active trauma, Anne is not a medical professional or a trauma coach and you are encouraged to seek professional trauma help.
