Relief from pain
After a bout with herniated disks, I have been struggling with chronic nerve pain. What didn’t make sense was that on vacation I had little or no pain. Also, I had days of no pain at all, and did the same exercises as days with pain. I always felt responsible for whatever caused my pain. Then I heard about somatic tracking. While I knew my brain had become hyper vigilant about finding pain, I didn’t know how to break the cycle. After listening to the podcast, I became an observer to my pain as it moved around my body. I didn’t try to fix it, or worry about it, just observed and told myself I was safe. Miraculously, the pain lessened instead of intensifying. Did it come back? Yes, but with less intensity. It’s a work in progress, but I have hope of convincing my brain that not all sensations are danger signals deserving of pain.

I looked forward to every next episode. They are encouraging and suggestions are practical . Even though my pain sensations don’t go away when I do somatic tracking, like magic, I do feel the difference of not having the fear. Thank you!
