“I listened to some of his episodes because the descriptions seem interesting and balanced and evolved... I'd say Terry thinks he's being modern and progressive, but he has so much further to go if that's really the goal. The gap between the description and the actual content is particularly wide in the episode about women's "body counts" (which is already a dehumanizing term for having sex, for all people involved). The description makes it seem like he's informed on the subject and is going to break down stereotypes and move past them, but he just ends up leaning into other stereotypes even harder lol. his thoughts on the topic come across as outdated, patronizing and still very misogynist, even if he's trying to tell other misogynists where they're wrong. I rolled my eyes at his thesis that any woman who's had sex with a lot of people has only done it because she was going through a hard time, or she got hurt and wants to hurt men back, or she had/has bad judgment. lol what? listen to some feminist writers on this topic and get back to us. listen to some WOMEN and get back to us. I don't know. it was disappointing! it seems like he wants to think about this stuff in a balanced way, but his inner misogyny jumps out nonetheless because he hasn't truly examined where his thoughts and beliefs come from.”Read full review »
