“I started listening to That Happens after the Harmontown reunion special. I love the DnD sections of Harmontown, as well as Harmonquest, so figured this would be pretty good even though Dan isn't involved. I've got to say though, this show is a mess.
I love Spencer, and I wish there were more of him, but at the moment it seems like the podcast is just a sounding board for Jeff's stories. He really commandeers the whole show to talk about himself and humblebrag about his antics, it's pretty frustrating.
For weeks, it's just been Jeff talking self indulgent waffle, then remembering they have DnD to play about 5 mins before the end of the show. It's got to be annoying for Spencer, it's bugging the hell out of me.
On top of everything, the sound quality and audio errors are pretty ridiculous. I don't usually let that kind of thing bother me, I get these are usually independent productions, but when it's dull and frustrating content on top of consistent and really basic audio errors, you've got a painful show on your hands. It really feels like nobody bothers to listen to it back before they go out. It’s shoddy work.
