A breath of fresh air
I notice when I listen to so many of these podcasts related to kids and parenting, it’s almost exclusively women presenting the information. Often the advice is about affirming, listening, and working around and empathising with all sorts of negative behaviours because the child is neurodivergent. That is, letting the kid lead, and the parent to follow. It’s nice to hear a podcast say it’s okay for a parent to take control. So much of the information is taking me back to common sense parenting. Something frankly that is missing from much of the advice today. Respect your kids, but doing it by teaching them lessons, and not letting them run the show, which it seems is especially important in kids with ADHD. I think for parents, especially women, who might be struggling with a difficult child who has ADHD (which is my wife’s situation), this podcast is a life line. Some very straight forward practical tips about how to regain control, and build your kid back up to be the strong capable person they were meant to be.
