A touch dry, but accurate and informative
While a touch dry (which is probably unavoidable, we just don't know enough about the major players), it's a good, sweeping look at the ancient history of the western and near-eastern world. Which is my only real complaint - there's not a jot of info about the far east or the new world, as well as any (non-Egyptian or Carthaginian) African kingdoms of this period. So, maybe a better title would be The Ancient Western World. Still, a much appreciated addition to the rather small number of quality history podcasts. I listen to each episode on the day it's released.Read full review »

History is filled with all sorts of stories not told, and Scott tells some of those. Excellent sound, excellent story telling and great podcast all around. If you love history and love to listen to a good podcast, you have found it. A must listen.

I have for a long time been looking for a really good podcast on Ancient History that wasn't boring and I found this one. So it is not full of laughs but it is really interesting and it gives me my fill of Ancient History during dull work day.Read full review »

Dispite there being a plethora of really good historical podcasts following the end of the History of Rome this is far and away the pick of the bunch. Well researched and informative, yet delivered with elan and never dull. Makes me happy everytime I see a new episodes ready.
