I really LOVE listening to your podcast. Love the voices, love the expert, love how the stories are presented. It’s easy to listen to even though complicated matters are never overly simplified. Thank you so very much!!!

This is a great podcast that gets better with time. My only complaint is that it has male, elite, religious, and military biases. I would like to hear more about the history of our modern/Arabic numeral system and maths in the ancient worlds, the lives of rural women and girls, how ancient...Read full review »

Love the show, but I'm absolutely burned out on Spartacus and Roman conquers etc. There is Soooo many other topics, every week I end up skipping out on listening.Read full review »

Obnoxious ads. Tried this podcast before any content it was just ad after ad. Turned it off before the podcasters even started.

My first podcast was “S-Town” a well-done show. I am thrilled that the podcast world has matured and grown to provide programming like this show. Everything about it is excellent-from the subject matter, to the research, the guests, and the presenter. I’m enjoying the Old Testament series which...Read full review »

I have been binging this podcast. Tristan and the History Hit team are selecting the subjects and the experts so well. Always engaging interviews, informative and easy to listen to and learn from.

Self-Centred, socially oblivious, colonial pieces of garbage. You will not learn history here. You will learn about archaic British Colonial interests and propaganda. There are better places for you to learn history. You have been warned!

Highly dependent on the speakers. Some brilliant communicators others not. The parthians was a difficult one to listen to it’s all over the place. When they talk as though we are beginners without possessing an academic education on ancient history it makes it much more engaging. Otherwise it’s...Read full review »

The presenter dude says ‘It’s the ancients’ near the start. I’ve never heard anyone else say ‘It’s the ancients’ like that. It’s ok if you like old stuff but it doesn’t cover much modern stuff.

5 stars plus for Mr Tristan and company. Don’t miss it. Consistent and informative. Tristan asks many of the same questions I would ask

The guest lost me after a few minutes, they could have kept it brief and more entertaining.

I love a good history podcast, and this is one of the better ones. There is lots of interesting topics and I find that I will always discover something of interest in each one. I do find, the subscriber only content, is frustrating. I can’t afford to subscribe, as I follow a varied list of...Read full review »

Have been a scholar of history from a young age, but just can’t connect with this presentation or style or something. I will get excited about a particular topic as I scroll episodes and inevitably switch it off within five minutes.

In general, a great show. It should have been called European Ancients. If there’s another show about Troy, Rome, or Boudica I’m ready to puke. Yes there were a few episodes on the steppe people, Neanderthals, and Bactria The scope is very limited. Weren’t there ancients in the recorded...Read full review »

Great topics, informed commentary, but a very PC, anachronistic tone. Describing the average Roman as “homophobic,“ as a scholar on the most recent episode does, is to use a descriptor and category that would have baffled the ancients.

Awesome podcast featuring experts working on actual archaeological digs, DNA researchers, historians steeped in the very latest data on the chosen topic. A must listen if you want the most recent analysis on ancient historical locations. Cannot recommend enough!

I’m not a scholar or historian. Just a nurse who is fascinated by ancient history. The Ancients is easily the best pod for all things ancient history. Tristan is a great host and the guests he interviews are top notch. Highly recommend The Ancients.

You don’t think it’s really hypocritical for a British show to talk about looted artefacts, but NOT mention the notorious Elgin marbles?! Shame on you.

I understand monetization may be necessary, however, the majority of what’s released is unavailable to me because I don’t have the funds to join. A very knowledgeable and well prepared host with a fantastic array of real expert guests. I highly recommend listening to all episodes, not just the ones you think will interest you. I have found some of those where I thought the topic wouldn’t really be interesting to actually be fascinating.

Thanks a lot for your podcast, Tristan! It’s spot on with my interests and I genuinely love listening to you and your splendid guests. Cheers.

I love this podcast and can’t listen enough. Luckily there is a huge backlog of episodes. The quality of the interviews with eminent academics and the topics chosen are perfect for ancient history nerds. Persians, the Neolithic, history of the bible, classical Greece and Rome. Keep up the good work!
