Waste of time
Where to start? I started listening to this podcast when it was only a few months old. It was not bad, but not great. The host seemed like a down to earth bloke and was fairly knowledgeable, but his back up team seemed tone lacking in some areas. Compared to other l LFC podcasts, it didn't flow as well. One person talks, and talks, and talks almost in circles. There wasn't much discussion. It was almost like people were taking turns on a soap box. Then somebody else takes over, then repeat. Don't get me wrong, it has its moments, but eventually they started to increase content. While this was a good idea, the problem was they didn't add quality to their quantity and it became more and more diluted. The main show kept to the same ok, but not great, standard. Some of the new shows were mixed. The idea of LFC supporters clubs from around the world contributing to a podcast is a good one. It only really hold up if there is quality to go with it, but it's just not there. The impressive writer Paul Tompkins proves that he is an excellent writer, but dreadful stuttering host of a show with guests than had good opinions, but no charisma . The utterly cringeworthy Liverbirds shows undid any good idea for a show with monotone dialog and stereotypical opinions on players that they fancy! The Daytrippers is fantastic, but is really an external podcast added to the Anfield Index, you are better off downloading from them directly. After a while, I stopped subscribing. Occasionally I download an episode with the hope that things have improved, but I seem to be constantly disappointed. There is a 'pundit' on the main podcast, Dave Hendricks, who insists he watches just about every game of football throughout Europe and is almost gleeful when a player does not live up to their transfer fee, just so he can be proved right. It's quite sad really. He sounds constantly bitter and miserable. This same pundit insists we should buy Victor Wanyama, which really says it all. Perhaps a Big Sam or Mouriniho team would be better for his pallet and spare us all his whining. There are better, much better productions out there which are put together a little more skillfully and have much more discussion, contrasting opinions and much higher quality guests. Of course I am talking about the Anfield Wrap. I had originally hoped that the quality of the Anfield Wrap would inspire the Anfield Index to improve, but sadly, it sounds like it has only motivated the, to snipe and slag off "locals" So goodbye Anfield Index. I might try you again one day and see what you have done to improve, but for any potential listeners I can't in good faith recommend this to anybody as it is the Walmart of podcasts, where others are considerably superior.
