Entertained, educated, and impressed
Listening to the Art History Babes feels just like I'm back in grad school, discussing art, culture, and feminism with my friends. As a previous grad student in art history, I was looking for a podcast to listen to on the commute to my sadly not-art-history-related job. I wanted something that would keep me connected to the study of art but also the camaraderie that comes with a good bottle of wine and crying over our theses. While I studied art history for years, the Babes have taught me so much in a way that is both entertaining but immensely informative (I can tell you anything about medieval art but nothing about Yoko Ono - until now!). Even the topics I know well are discussed in a way that makes me want to join in on the conversation; the topics I might know less of, I can understand even without always seeing the referenced images. By having four different viewpoints, the artists and concepts I already know are made more complex and sometimes far more interesting than some of the courses I've taken. I have laughed out loud, cried, and debated with the Art History Babes, wanting nothing more than a glass of wine and a seat at their table. If you're new to the world of art history, prepare to learn a lot about artists, history, and feminism in a fascinating way. And if you're not new to discussing Raphael and abstract expressionism, prepare to feel like you're back in your grad lounge - in the best way possible.Read full review »

I am a fine art graduate and art history lover, but I was so fed up with all the dull / pretentious art history...Read full review »

Art and art history really isn't my thing, but I heard about this podcast from The History Chicks podcast, who had good things to say about it, so I decided I'd come take a listen. To my suprise, I really enjoy it. The podcast is fun and interesting, and though I wish they showed a bit...Read full review »
