“Hola, Obed here. An Ethiopian life-long Man Utd fan & Messi admirer residing in Las Vegas. There’s this wave of sport journalists that either behave as celebrities (by selling live shows for instance) or act like they’re reporting on life and death scenarios. I’m all for people taking their job seriously but football is supposed to be fun, isn’t it? Tell the truth and have fun doing it! And then, there’s Ian. His witty one liners make my day. Ian doesn’t take himself too seriously either. Never, EVER change Ian. I love the show! It’s my second favorite podcast from The Athletic Podcast Network, not so narrowly beaten by The Totally Football Show, European Edition. I genuinely believe the Serie A has been the best European major league over the last 5 years in terms of entertainment. I’m hoping you’ll keep calling Mr. Horncastle to the show more often. I was at the Camp Nou in March, 2018 for the UCL second leg Vs. Chelsea. Several fans were waving a giant Catalonia flag and I missed Messi’s second goal through Courtois’ legs. I later found out it also Messi’s 100th goal in the UCL. I was livid!! But I kept my mouth shut. Mainly because I didn’t speak a word of Spanish. And also because I was raised right. Glory! Glory! Man Utd! We’ll finish above Liverpool!”
