“If you're not a buff of Cold War nuclear and civil defence issues, The Atomic Hobo is a good, well researched show from where you can enter this rather dark corner of 20th century history. Julie is an amiable, chatty host who knows her stuff, conducts decent research and is Threads mad. The culture themed episodes are particularly interesting. On the other side of the wall, I feel that the narrow subject matter works against the show in general. There is a lot of repetition, an over-reliance on Threads as a reference point, and some episodes feel rather dragged out and ride more on Julie's chatty delivery as opposed to factual content. A lot of the sound effects are also unnecessary and annoying. Ultimately though, Julie is bringing a shockingly terrifying period of history to a new audience and that can only be a good thing.”Read full review »

“Julie brings such a wealth of knowledge and sense of humour to some rather bleak topics. It’s so refreshing to hear a female voice in this kind of space, as they can be often a little intimidating and right-wing.
Can’t wait for the book!
