Description
If you are following this podcast, you likely know that gut health is important for all autoimmune diseases, not just intestinal autoimmunity! In this episode I talk about 4 different autoimmune gut conditions, 3 of which are diagnosed autoimmune "diseases": - Leaky Gut - Celiac Disease - Crohn's Disease - Ulcerative Colitis  I start by explaining the underlying mechanisms of leaky gut and intestinal permeability. I then expand into Celiac Disease and how gluten triggers "leaky gut" along with intestinal inflammation, which destroys the "villi" - the tiny little hairs on gut cells that absorb our vitamins and nutrients and leads to malabsorption and the possibility of other autoimmune processes.  I then discuss two major inflammatory bowel diseases Crohn's disease and Ulcerative Colitis, their differences, symptoms, diagnoses, and more!
