Fine
I've modified my previous review, which I wrote a month or so ago after listening to about the first 20 or so. I don't know if it just started to wear on me or if the quality has declined or if I was just starved for more McElroy goodness. The one tangible thing I can point to that relates to my lack of enthusiasm is Justin. He has a bunch of very unsound opinions, and it has started to grate on me after a while. The ones that come to mind are his immediate dismissal of the great Hotline: Miami, which has controls that work just fine and an episode a few weeks back where he was commissioner and chose some bland Transformers game as a better game than a great (if more of the same) Mario game on the grounds that this Mario didn't "reinvent platforming". Justin is a very funny person, as evidence shows on My Brother My Brother and Me. In fact, all four of these people are funny. I just don't care for Justin's questionable video game opinions. I also feel as if this format for a show is starting to fall apart. It tends to lead to either the nonchalant dismissal of very good/great games (XCOM, Hotline, Mario, Assassin's Creed, etc.), or 60 minutes spent talking about iPhone games because it's the middle of summer and nothing else is out. All of that said, I could absolutely see a future where they salvage and evolve this into a great podcast, and so I'll keep checking back every so often, hopeful.Read full review »

An inherently silly podcast and a very entertaining one too. You'll quickly realize that this would be the worst way to decide on a game of year and I felt like the hosts want the listener to quickly get in on the joke and come along for the ride. Hopefully the gag will have legs, i think...Read full review »
