Really want to like this one...
But there are so many issues getting in the way of a great story idea: - way overused sound effects between almost every person's dialog. Something that I think is supposed to sound like keyboard tapping. Exactly the same sound, over and over. And then this awful radio noise sound that randomly occurs. Seems like it is meant to mean time has passed? Or that there is audio interference? Have no idea really, but it happens so often and is so annoying. - storytelling seems very random when switching back and forth between characters. Narrative is much better when just one person tells a story. - Hard to understand what exactly is going on sometimes (like just hearing audio of tv show). - way too much use of "operator voice" when making calls, repeating over and over. Given how much keyboard clicking is going on, it is strange to have a "phone operator" automated voice happening. - same sappy piano music playing in the background over and over during all the dialog. Okay to use when something sappy is happening, not all the time. Great idea and concept, but the execution really gets in the way.Read full review »

I like it. The sound effects can be distracting and very confusing, but not enough that I can't enjoy the story. And as with every podcast out there, we could definitely do with it being more queer.Read full review »

Listen. My two favorite aesthetics are nautical and vague eldritch horror. When I found a podcast that blended the two I lost my MIND. The sound design in this show is absolutely incredible, and the music? Amazing! I could listen to Etta tell me lore of the Transatlantic bridge for /days./

I'm on episode 6, and so far this show is original, refreshing, and fun. You can tell the creators and crew had a fun time putting this together. It's well acted (much better than some of the sponsored podcasts out there), not pretentious, and surprisingly well written. I recommend...Read full review »
