Proposals to give terminally ill people in England and Wales the right to choose to end their lives were introduced in Parliament today, with strong opinions on both sides of the debate. So are we getting closer to assisted dying being legalised in this country? Kim Leadbeater, the Labour MP for Spen Valley, will table a private members’ Bill to legalise the practice with a free vote for MPs next month, their first since 2015.
