Disappointed
Have listened to the briefing every morning for years. Unfortunately the biased reporting, which reeks of racism from Tom Tilley is just disturbing. Today for example- the “concerning” news update re Israel/Gaza “war” was that Yemen shot some rockets.. a protest cry by a poor country with piddly rockets, against one with the one of the strongest army’s and most destructive weapons, backed by world super powers. Wasn’t concerned enough to mention Israel’s bombing of a refugee camp over the weekend, killing 400 or so families, with MSF reporting many children were brought to the full hospital, alone- injured and screaming for their mums and dads- but with no family left . Not concerned about Israel’s call for evacuation of hospitals. Not concerned about Israeli settlers backed by IDF killing 37 children in the past week in West Bank where there is no Hamas. Not concerned about the fact that people like me have to find a new podcast now (ok this one I forgive). Is none of this newsworthy? This has been the pattern for 3 weeks. When Israelis were killed it was all “brutal” and “massacre” and “but killing people at a music festival… is just brutal”. Nothing for Gaza. As if killing families forced into a refugee camp, or in their homes and apartments isn’t relatable enough for you? What about the journalists whose wives and kids have been targeted and killed- isn’t that relatable? The 1000 missing people, 500 ish children, currently trapped under rubble that can’t be moved… not a concern? I suggest a little mental test for bias before reporting, since it’s clear you’re unable to see Palestinians as human otherwise. Reverse the situation before you report, to ensure it’d be no different. Ie If Jewish people were the ones under blockade, and being bombed in an open air prison after decades of oppression and unprovoked killing of their people, by a right wing extremist Muslim government... How would you report on this? PS love the others, Katrina blowers, Jan Fran, JR etc

More reviews of The Briefing
I love the Briefing! It’s my go-to way to keep up with the Australian(& other) news without spending hours scrolling or chaining myself in front of the TV. The hosts maintain the perfect balance between taking their topics seriously and keeping the vibe upbeat. Great job guys, keep it up!

If I have to hear Tom Tilley say “in the time of Corona” one more time I will have to stop listening. Just say “now” or nothing at all. It’s not funny or clever, it’s just naff...

I’ve been loving this podcast, listen every morning since it started, and I’m an old diehard Hack fan from Tom’s days at triplej. However this week I’ve been so put off by the excessive Foxtel advertising. I understand that sponsorship is important for generating revenue but THREE rather lengthy...Read full review »
