I think I need to unfollow. It’s hard for me as I’m a creature of habit and the Briefing is my morning routine now. It started when the news broke that the King needed a Prostrate op and simultaneously Princess Kate had surgery. I’m no fan of Chuck and find the royals outdated but come on the two...Read full review »

Sad to be leaving a negative review given the podcast had become part of my morning ritual since COVID. Sadly the changes to the lineup this year have been to the detriment of the podcast. One of the new hosts in particular sounds in slow motion, and he can’t help but try and tell us what to...Read full review »

Poorly disguised opinion pieces around current affairs, broadly interspersed with editorial content which really should either be ads or at least have a level of disclosure. When science topics are handled the information is out of date and cherry picked to allow the presenter to illustrate...Read full review »

Today’s ep was outrageously ageist. I know Antoinette is going through some aggregeous discrimination right now, which is why I think she should be a bit more sensitive to it. Bye Briefing.
proof etc via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 02/02/24
Often factually incorrect or misleading. Usually strongly biased. Pandering to people’s outrage instead of bringing insight.

Every single time inflation and the RBA is discussed the hosts insist on giving personal views that are often ignorant of how economics and higher inflation impact EVERYONE by making us all poorer. Therefore it is RIGHT to leave the RBA to do their job without you weigh in that’s so obviously...Read full review »

Have listened to the briefing every morning for years. Unfortunately the biased reporting, which reeks of racism from Tom Tilley is just disturbing. Today for example- the “concerning” news update re Israel/Gaza “war” was that Yemen shot some rockets.. a protest cry by a poor country with piddly...Read full review »

No way! We’ve seen time and again how police misuse the personal information of others. And if people don’t want to let police to access their phone camera does that mean they’re given less priority or not believed?

On a declared week of mourning over the voice result, you gave Warren Mundine a platform to lay the boot in. Well done.
Letsgetbreaddytorumble via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 10/15/23
Dude just let Peter Dutton spout a bunch of BS, offered some resistance to the straight up lies about the voice being equivalent to the high court but then immediately rolled over and let him keep going. If you leave the interview on unchallenged lies you aren’t doing your job
Nate2771 via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 10/11/23
So disappointed this morning to hear you provide a platform to Dutton. A known misinformation champion who walked out on the apology. What a huge shame that you support him to get his racists views to others. I’m no longer listening. Cop out.

Elise Loehnen the most incredibly resonating interview I have had the benefit of experiencing. An absolute must-listen for all - a wholly groundbreaking exposé for all the adverse generationally hardwired socialisations women are subjected to in a society customised to placate and empower males....Read full review »

I listen most days and find it really informative. I just want to say that I am an older Gen x and either I think like a younger person or you have got Gen x wrong. I have loads of friends who also think in the same way as milenials do.

Fantastic podcast <3 Tom doesn’t shy away from asking the tough questions. So glad you didn’t change the format. Keep on being you. McCafe ads make me sad. Coffee fit for an Aussie. Why didn’t you ask Thomas Mayo about his rant, “rent and reparations” or is this forbidden? Also why didn’t you ask about his fear mongering tactics after he said, “if we lose, aboriginal people will be worse off” or is impartiality dead?

I’ve been listening to The Briefing since COVID and (babies!). It’s kept me informed and entertained on many energy-sapping pram walks … love the fast news and the deep-dive topics and, most of all, the great team behind it all.

Been a great source of morning news and further insights, but since flipping the news headlines to after the interview… I don’t always want to listen to the interviews conducted early on. Best way to start the day! Old format please. News first. Have loved Tom since The Hack on JJJ. Great interviews looking at all perspectives. It’s also a great way to keep up to date with current news!

Love the show, but am missing the old format. I am a daily listener who prioritises the headlines over the deep dive as not all topics interest me
Dhiaoane via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 07/07/23
Enjoy the podcast, listen everyday on the drive to work, good to get the news snippet (can be hard to otherwise get the radio news) and the briefing topic - afterwards. Sorry guys. I listen every day, it is my favourite way to start the day, so I enjoy starting with the news of that day. Maybe just put the time where the deep dive starts in the show notes. Otherwise great job. More sports news please.
Kmnvf via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 07/06/23
Really appreciate the change in format as I often miss days but am interested in the key story
JenniO3 via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 07/06/23
It never really bothered me to have headlines first or last but it does make sense to have them last, or just post the timestamp when the deep dive begins in the notes.

Much prefer the old format! News first and then topic!
Isycars00 via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 07/05/23

I listen to The Briefing everyday, often on the drive to work or in my headphones while riding my bike. It’s the first bit of news I hear for the day, which is why I am not a fan of the new format of putting the news headlines at the end of the podcast. Surely having chapters for people to jump...Read full review »

Long time listener first time reviewer here. I hit play on the morning briefing every morning when my alarm goes off to get up for the gym and it’s the best! Perfect length of time and snippet of what’s going on in the world, it is the way I consume my news. Thank you briefing team I have no notes!!
sophiecaspersz via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 06/26/23
Great short news update followed by a “deep dive” into a topical issue. Brief and informative without much agenda. Released early enough to listen to it while you shave, do your sit-ups, drink your coffee or whatever.

This has potential to be an amazing podcast but I would love to have just the facts- no opinion and the hosts seem to come across as patronising. It’s like a podcast version of the project.

When I first started listening I wasn’t too sold on on the format or delivery. But over time I’ve come back and listened again and again and am finding it polished, compact and relevant. Balance can be off sometimes. Without Tom Tilley it would fall away. Also can’t take someone’s point of view as fact, would encourage counter points of view.

Love this pod. Good journalism delivered in a conversational way. I like hearing journalists weight in a little bit, something they can’t do when reporting for mainstream outlets. Also really love the structure - 10mins of headlines great for when I’m in a rush, add on the 10min deep dive when...Read full review »

Not the same quality as early on, especially with inconsistent newer hosts. Some subject matters questionable. Highlighting irrational and deluded people such as ‘Cherish’.

I have to say that this was a great interview guys. I love the way that you really dug in deep to get her views in a very balanced way. Initially I was resistant but the way that you interviewed made me stop and reassess. Thank you!!

Tom is quite conservative and has some shocking opinions. He shouldn’t be given the chance to comment on Aboriginal and Strait Islander issues. His co-podcasters are better educated.
