Don't Overstate Your Case
I love the show and appreciate the point of view of fellow Wisconsite Charlie Sykes, but I think the show and its adherents might overstate the case on being "an island of sanity in a sea of madness" or "a lone voice of conservative reason in the age of Trump." Though I'm also a Trump skeptic, I don't give myself backpats or attaboys for my moral fortitude for this stance. Too much Trump bashing or self congratulation won't help to bring Trump supporters back into the fold. Criticize the policies, criticize the tactics, criticize the rhetoric, but don't be too smug about your own superiority. Smugness should remain a condition of the Democratic left, not a new fashion worn by the purer-than-though right.Read full review »

Losing the Daily Standard left a HUGE hole in my day, thank goodness for the Bulwark. Amazing guests. Always reasonable, rationale analysis and commentary...and that coming from a Northeast elitist Dem! Thank you guys!
