“Really interesting topic but absolutely ridiculous amount of ads. Stopped listening after the 4th break in 30 mins. Won’t be returning. Don’t be so greedy.”

“Enjoyed this series (both seasons) and it illuminates a truth about policing and class/poverty/racism that a lot of reviewers here seem to resent but the fact is truth is NOT blind. I gave it 4 stars because a) WAY too many ads and b) sucking up to the cop at the end was distasteful; no matter...”Read full review »

“According to this podcast, they have found the first innocent drug dealer!!! Who would’ve thought that you had to sell drugs as a youth because there were no lawns to mow in the city. If you’re a fan of the Farley method of fanboy interview, you’ll really like this podcast ‘how cool you’re a...”Read full review »

“Finished binge listening. The story was quite good. It’s so sad to hear that law enforcement does so much shady work — knowingly. Also, since most of the public is law-abiding and trusting of the uniform/badge, why take advantage of the innocent?”

“I made it through the first episode of what had the prospect of being an interesting story, but when it turned into a bunch of boring “everything’s racism” cliches, it immediately became just like everything else. Yawn.”

“This was a binge listen. I couldn’t stop great storytelling. I felt like it was the perfect display of flood humans who were disregarded and treated like they didn’t matter but we could see their humanity. And the ending through me for a loop. I hope there’s another podcast from this group. I’ll...”Read full review »

“I never binged podcasts until I discovered this one. The storytelling and investigative skills are fantastic. Great podcast! I hope there are more episodes to come. Every episode keeps me on the edge of my seat. I can't wait to see what they cover next! The music is kinda cheesy. The host has...”Read full review »

“This is one of the best true crime podcasts since serial early seasons. As an insider who has worked in both the federal and state criminal justices systems, the show’s fair and balanced take was spot on. In fact, it was so balanced, I emphasized more with the “disgraced detective” than the...”Read full review »

“Episodes do not start until 6 minutes in…WTF
Trash!!!
A good story with a terrible format. I hate when podcasters use their podcast to play DJ. Awful, unnecessary music. So slow to develop, 1st episode all you get is a stretched out introduction. 2/3’s of the way into episode 2 and you still do...”Read full review »

“I’d like to preface my review by saying that I write this from the perspective of a mental health therapist, a true crime aficionado, and, most importantly, as a human being. I’d also like to say that after listening to dozens of long form podcasts, this is the ONLY one that has moved me so...”Read full review »

“Listen to the whole series. It’s amazing how much my attitude changed at the very end towards the cop. Still don’t like him, but to hear the raw emotion and to have him see a completely unexpected reaction from someone he put away was so, just - wow.”
“Really interesting story and wonderful to have so many of the main characters speaking directly to their experience.
Unfortunately, for me, the production took away from the story. At times the sound effects and music, along with the drama in the hosts’ narrative felt misplaced. The story and...”Read full review »

“I was with you all on this journey until your encounter with Jewell (sp). She didn’t owe YOU an explanation, and you could clearly see that she was in distress, but you persisted.
Disgusting.”

“Average story of over zealous detective broken into WAY too many parts. First episode has the bold storytelling hook then falls asleep for the remainder. Seems more like a hit piece against the detective than a requiem on criminal justice as a whole.”

“This is a complicated and important story told in a way that brings it to life. I felt like I knew the main characters by the time I finished. People need to understand that the serious failings of our justice system, at its worst, can literally steal a person’s life. It’s shallow to pick on the...”Read full review »

“Ok I get that this is free media and supported by ads, but the volume and frequency of ads ruin the listening experience.
