Excellent host, some episodes better than others
I'm torn, but I gave this 5 stars bc the host is fantastic and the production is top notch. I'd love to hear more from Jon Ronson for Audible. On other topics besides this film industry. This content may appeal to many listeners but it really didn't interest me, apart from the first and last episodes. Some of it was completely revolting. The underlying theme of progress and technology disrupting existing industries is interesting. I just didn't feel much sympathy for the sleazebags in the Valley. Are we supposed to pity them for making less money off exploiting women? The women being exploited don't come across as sympathetic, either. The stories of the mother whose 13yo saw her films, the stamp collector who ordered custom videos of women destroying his stamps, and the guy who found a doll modeled after his first love were creepy to me. They are memorable, though. There's something to be said for that. If you like NPR and high quality investigative journalism told in a British accent, it's hard to imagine you not liking this.Read full review »

What Jon Ronson manages to do every time is make his projects about people. He's a master of telling other people's stories - and The Butterfly Effect does not disappoint. A terrific listen.Read full review »
