Pacing is a bore and POV issues
I do appreciate that some solid research and writing work went into this podcast but the storytelling structure is slow and awkward. On top of that, the alliance with Axis Germany is acknowledged, it is not explored enough. And not explored from an objective point of view that the material merits. Germany’s allies cannot just be taken at their word as doing so to prevent harm to their country. There were often other forces at work and I feel these are wholly unexplored. And the of repeated phrase “Asiatic poisons” sounds vaguely racist to my ears. If the host and writers are going to use the phrase as often and as cavilierly as they do, please provide some context about Europe’s colonizing activities and attitudes before sprinkling that phrase everywhere. Much more editing and refinement was needed here.

The first episode has me hooked~ and the second I’m about to listen to. :) A wonderful mix of history, personal story, murder mystery and a touch of humor.
