Jenn and her group ran into a mountain lion that was trapped in the canyon. It was blocking them form their last rappel. They went back up canyon and above the cat to try to get him to go back out of the narrows section he was in. it jumped 90 ft... They were then able to finish the last rappel and hike out of the canyon. The hope is that the Mountain lion was also able to hike out now that he was also on the canyon floor. Z broke his ankle in Mystery Canyon. It hurt really bad!! He was trying to steam over a shallow pothole so he would get wet. He would have to get wet later in the canyon anyway. He said in hide sight he would have just gone through the shallow pool knowing he would have to get wet later. The risk was not worth the consequence that day. Many canyons in the Zion area are equipped with bolted anchors. For years plated steel bolts, of varying quality, were the norm. As these bolts age and rust away they are becoming time bombs. Tyler's goal is to replace these aging bolts with modern stainless steel glue-in bolts and update anchors to modern standards. After the Ouray Canyon Festival Christian reached out to me to let me know about his 12-year-old daughter Marley.
