Over lore-d
There’s so much to love about this show - I’m especially jealous of anyone who still has the chance to listen to the first two series afresh. The acting and sound design are brilliant, and there are some superbly creepy moments. Kudos too for making the racists the scary ones! But the third series, and especially the fourth, get very clogged up with exposition - suddenly there’s a lot more telling than showing and poor Nicola Walker has to get through a lot of background lore very fast! Hopefully the BBC commissioning editors allow season 5 more time and space.

I really enjoyed the story. This is a quick listen and very fascinating. I found the dramatizations a bit distracting but overall a good podcast.

Brilliant podcast this. Superb rework of two of Lovecraft’s classics. I binge listened to The Case of Charles Dexter Ward and this second series, Whisperer In The Darkness has not disappointed. He wrote loads and I hope they cover many more!

Just the kind of mystery I've been looking for. Reminds me of when I was a teenager and listened to those wonderful radio plays on the BBC World Service on shortwave radio, straining to catch every word! Thank you and please keep them coming!Read full review »
