There’s so much to love about this show - I’m especially jealous of anyone who still has the chance to listen to the first two series afresh. The acting and sound design are brilliant, and there are some superbly creepy moments. Kudos too for making the racists the scary ones! But the third...Read full review »

Started listening, didn’t know what to expect. I’m hooked! Can’t stop.
FilthytheBear via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 06/04/24
Seasons 1-3 are great, season 4 descends into a mess of names and groups that characters spend entire episodes trying to unpick and explain. Whilst they do this, they make repeated comments about how listeners will find it confusing. They’re not wrong.
Kasma88 via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 06/01/24
Incredible voice acting and excellent story which makes it hard to stop listening

Where is episode 1 of the whisperer in darkness?!? I’m only giving this a one star in hopes that it will get someone’s attention.
A. Aron via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 05/15/24
Episode 2 Charles Dexter Ward is missing. Why. Forget this podcast. Missing episodes and gaps in story.
DaveFromOz_777 via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 05/07/24
The first couple of episodes are a bit rough, but don’t let that stop you — once it gets going it’s a lot of fun and does a great job mixing horror, conspiracy theorists, family history and journalism.
Gaurav Vaidya via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 04/29/24
Thank you, thank you for returning with a new season! I’m so thrilled to see that the story continues, when I had basically given up all hope. Voice actors, sound scape, and writing are all still stellar, nuanced, and brilliant, as I have come to expect. Superb!
BeenBattized via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 04/07/24
I just finished binging all four series and they are phenomenal. Great sound design, superb voice acting and positively enthralling storytelling.
Tubby C. Fat via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 03/21/24
I loved it. It’s very compelling, well acted, and had me wanting more. Also, good on the creepy meter.
ElektrikRobot via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 03/17/24
My favorite of the four seasons is the Charles Dexter Ward one. There are a lot of things to like about it. The mystery is compelling, the characters are great, and the way that the story is modernized is quite interesting as well. I like how the writers add new things that modern audiences would...Read full review »

I struggled to find any podcasts that grabbed me and were not super cheesy or terribly acted. This is the one. Fantastic stuff guys please keep it coming

I really love this, but you do need to focus and I recommend to binge. There are a lot of names and connections between characters and if you listen sporadic it can get confusing. I'm impressed with the story line, and I really love the voices of the two protagonists. Overall an intriguing...Read full review »

I was intrigued by the premise of this show (and also initially thought it would be directly related to Lovecraft’s work) and it started off pretty well. But frankly after the second season, it ventures into something else entirely; too complicated to follow and far too many characters. The mix...Read full review »

I randomly chose this podcast without reading anything about it. I genuinely thought it was real for the first couple of episodes! Wonderful. Looking forward to listening to the remaining three podcasts x

Just finished the first series. Very well done take on the Lovecraft stories!

If you love peanut butter and jelly sandwiches then you’ll love this podcast. Julian Simpson dips his knife into the deep well of Cathulu mythos and spreads this on a base of great characters and narrative. Then he dips his knife again, into another deep well, English myths, legends,...Read full review »

I have binged all the four seasons this Christmas and loved every single minute. I’m looking forward to more. Excellent stuff!

Excellent podcast and I love the take on HP Lovecraft. It is so real, almost a War of the World experience where I have to remind myself it’s not real....Thank Danny Robbins for pointing out this one. Totally hooked. Love it. Kudos everyone involved.

I am ridiculously, deliriously happy that this podcast is back! I’ve listened to the past 3 seasons over and over again and thought it was all over. I have followed the series from the start and it’s been addictive listening. I particularly like its “authentic feel” almost as if you are with the team! I cannot recommend it highly enough!
Smenkhkare via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 12/02/23
I have thoroughly enjoyed this audio drama, and the fourth series is no exception. However, I feel like most of series four is about the future and transitioning into a different format. Having said that: people are weird. The “politics” that I’m seeing people complain about in the reviews is...Read full review »

I’ve loved every season of this. Really looking forward to getting stuck into the new episodes. The acting, production and sound design is excellent. Hairs on the back of my neck going up just recalling some of the moments in this series.

The first three seasons were fantastic. The forth season is poorly written, hyper political trash.

This is very well done. A great spin on the classic Lovecraft tales. I have enjoyed every minute.

I have been an added follower. This shows since the first season. The horror, the style, and the quality were all top-notch. this newest season, however, was a massive change to put it. Simply, this was less of a horror show and more a platform for the creators to discuss their own political...Read full review »

The first three seasons are simply the best podcast content there is, then season 4 comes along and has basically nothing to do with Lovecraft. Gobbled this up after listening the others what must have been three years ago. Perhaps I've been in another dimension all that time. Clever update of HPL where, occasionally, I hoped it would run further with its own ideas (the Marston house, the exterior of the church) rather than stick to...Read full review »

An incredible reimagining the classic Lovecraft stories - I have followed this show since 2019 and every station has been worth the wait. If you like cosmic horror, give this a listen. It is very, very good.
Albert Nothlit via Apple Podcasts · Mexico · 10/26/23
Very high production values with good modern versions of some of Lovecraft’s stories. However, has serious flaws: (1) early part of the COVID cult with all the propaganda preached by the BBC/government. (2) Series 4 is a leftie rant against patriotism. (3) No acknowledgement of Lovecraft.
LotusBlueTwo via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 10/25/23
The Haunter of the Dark is the latest in the series but I urge everyone to go back to the beginning & listen to The Case of Charles Dexter Ward & listen through. I’ve loved every series so far, and after series 4 came out, decided to listen again from the beginning. My favourite is the Whisperer in Darkness. It’s a painful attempt at making fiction true crime, poorly (voice) acted - it’s like listening to a pantomime. I couldn’t get through a full series.
