Great Companion to Gut-Wrenching Series
Peter Sagal and Craig Mazin, the series showrunner and writer, add a layer of weightiness to the already weighty series by talking candidly about what really happened back in 1986. The podcast episodes are succinct (a breezy 50 or so minutes, though I could listen to 2 hours of this) and the truth behind these events is at times mind-blowing. The podcast itself shows high production value and may be a game-changing idea of having a showrunner accompany his series with a podcast to elaborate on it. It works like a director’s commentary only it, like the show, is released in weekly increments. Mazin’s insights on the Soviet Union and the Chernobyl disaster are fair and thoroughly researched and his show is powerful, gut-wrenching, frustrating and unexpectedly frightening, harnessing a sense of dread like few series can.

Peter...Read full review »
