just finished the sight reading podcast
another great one. what you said about making sure you take a structured approach to your reading resonated with me — it is difficult to find a teacher or a book that helps with that approach. Books are either “100 Essential Pieces” that are not arranged in order of difficulty or children’s books that are nursery rhymes that I already know and thus can guess at notes w/ out learning to read them. I look forward to using the section of PracticePass on CGC that tackles this problem. I have needed a structured approach (progressive pieces that I am not familiar with) to learning to read for 20+ years. I also must admit I want to hear your other ideas — assuming I get serious about practicing reading every day and playing with others, what other tips can I follow to help me along. You hinted at others in the podcast but decided not to share them b/c John Williams convinced you otherwise. Hard to argue with John Williams, yet I find myself wondering what those tips are….is there another place I can go to find them?

Additionally there are many vip guests or members of cgca as well on the podcasts being interviewed, sharing...Read full review »
