“Always an excellent podcast never miss an episode. Love the analysis and the banter. Listening from Australia where the media falls very short of this degree of insight and analysis. Historically Australia has always pinned its flag first to the British Empire and then the American Empire. As such even the left of centre labour government are committing vast sums to an American military alliance (Aukus) and the anti-China war mongering preparing the Australians to send their children to defend Taiwan started in the Murdoch media several years ago. Surely if Trump pushes Ukraine to seed territory and allows Putin re-engage in world trade this will signal to Xi Jingping that 2027 is the year to move on Taiwan as his military have been preparing for? I have always believed that Biden‘s policy to protect Ukraine has been motivated more by signaling to China it should think twice about acting on its recognised sovereign rights over Taiwan than telling Putin he can’t march on Berlin ! I am interested to know how your x3B’s analysis on a post Trump new world order and in particular American foreign policy being more focused on the pacific and containing China fits with this analysis? He could of course make Xi his best mate and let him know that America would have no problem with a Hong Kong like agreement to reincorporate Taiwan into greater China? In which case I may eventually be able to allow my sons Irish passports to lapse as the last thing I will allow is for them to be conscripted into an Australian force sent to protect Taiwan because the US demands it.
