“I love Tamara and was a huge fan of Wait, There’s More. However, I’ve been finding that The Decibel focuses on a singular guest and allows their perspective to go unchallenged, even when they are explicitly saying that the places they are getting data from are the interested party. (Eg the movie theatres are saying it is completely safe! There hasn’t been any known cases of transmission - not mentioning that theatres haven’t been open, and that often we haven’t been able to trace community cases in Canada).
I was hoping this pattern would be rectified by having different guests later in the week, that offer another viewpoint but that has not happened.
It comes off as not a curious conversation, but rather giving people with a particular view a platform to share that opinion as fact…
The production team is all fantastic, and have created podcasts in the past that did not do this. I really, really, want to support them, but this Globe and Mail podcast just comes off as a platform to hear unchecked opinions that aren’t even interesting, and definitely don’t prioritize people or society at large.”
