“Hi guys - huge fan of you both; the content, context, relevance and thematic personality-type structure of the pod is amazing but have been incredibly worried that the episodes have been skewing to favour women in these circumstances. 70% of divorce is initiated by women in Australia and I personally know three men my age (circa 50) who are being devastated by their ex’s who left them - for other men (x2) and ‘wanting something better’. They have variously been harassed, legally threatened, had their children alienated from them and, in one case, cited a young daughter ‘having a scary dream’ as the reason to withhold custody, in direct contravention of a court order (that the police have refused to enforce). I think it’s worth noting that the behaviour of both parties can be poor, however it is men who are often destroyed as a result of separations they didn’t want, or even see coming in some cases. They lose access to children, their homes, are crippled financially and are viewed (don’t care what anyone says) dimly by Services Australia.
All I am saying is that thousands of good, hardworking husbands, fathers, providers - are being ruined by divorce so a deal more sensitivity and careful treatment in the podcasts could potentially assist both men and women.”
