The Dose July 25, 2020
Dear Dr. Goldman, Re: Interview with communicable disease specialist from Edmonton. The interview was excellent. Dr Goldman’s comments after the interview may have been good, but I couldn’t focus on them or hear them properly, because the background music was too loud and very very very distracting. Please Dr. Goldman, “remove the background music” when you are speaking to us about very crucially important information that you want us to learn about and put into practice in our lives to prevent spreading this serious Covid19 virus. I don’t know where CBC has learned that background music is an enhancement to learning when an educator is trying to impart crucially important information to the general public. I can’t speak for others, but I cannot focus on or hear what the speaker is saying with distracting music interfering with my learning. The other point to consider is that in general, people’s taste in music varies greatly, therefore, when you are trying to reach as many people as possible with your crucially important message, why would you risk turning off a percentage of your audience, because you are playing background music that is distasteful to them and perhaps even irritating to some? I love music, but not all music. I had no concern about the background music that was played while you spoke, but unfortunately I heard the music, but not much of what you said. I am willing to bet, that I’m not the only Canadian that learns best from an educator without background music. I sincerely would appreciate your consideration of my expressed concern. I listen to your program as often as possible and believe that you have a great influence on the Canadian public. A faithful, but concerned follower, E Jean Mitchell

Podcast could be called “all you wanted to know about stretching, but were afraid to ask”. What a thorough discussion on stretching, from why to why not, when, and how. So glad i got to hear the episode. I learned so much 😊

Very informative show with timely topics that have helped us navigate the health questions raised during the pandemic. Some really great interviews that I’ve been compelled to share with my friends and family so they had the information they needed as well. This show is an important public service.
