A Deep Dive into Writing
The two best things about this podcast are the range of writers and writing realtd people Dr King nterviews, and his sense of humour. If you're sitting in front of your laptop agonising over that nascent mot juste, taking a few hours out of your week and finding out that many other writers have had the same problem can really cheer you up, and Dr King's interview style - delivering a dissertation followed y a question mark' - asks the questins you'd ask if you were in your own Secret Headquarters. The craft discussions (usually with Ms Vanessa Blakeslee) provide insights and inroads to the actual craft involved in rattling the keys until you get some sense out of them, and recommends books I've actually dug out the ol' VISA and paid for - one of only two podcasts to do so. A podcast that can get me to spend money is one well worth your time - and worth sponsoring, too. Finally, it is the 'drunken' odyseey, and that adjective always make me feel a little warmer, cosier and as if I am surrounded by friends. Dr King may be (temporarily, I hope) off the sauce, but he can reminisce about simultaneously (adverb) drinking and writing as good as Raymond Chandler ever did.Read full review »

There is no dithering in the shallows with this podcast, nothing superficial about it: always wades in deep.
