Spoiler alert
This is going to end up as Kerr (and possibly his old mate James Macauley - who has not yet featured) as CIA allies as they had connections going back to their days in WW2 with US intelligence. This CIA conspiracy theory has been discredited by many including Paul Kelly. Even Gough didn’t buy it as a credible theory. He was visited by US deputy Secretary of State Warren Christopher who assured him the US government would never again interfere in domestic politics but that is not conclusive of CIA involvement. The Dismissal was just Kerr seeking to insert himself into a political crisis that he should have kept out of.
