Episode 7 is especially interesting now the letters have been released.
These well produced podcasts are even more interesting now the Palace letters have been released. Especially episode 7. State Secrets, the postlude to the dismissal. It seems like crime fiction .... but so much of it is true. Thanks to Prof Jenny Hocking’s dogged determination that this correspondence see the light of day, we now have the opportunity to sort through the facts. An opportunity to find ‘The Truth of the Matter’. Regardless of where your allegiances fall, this is a ripping yarn.

I was vaguely familiar with the background to the dismissal, but this has really painted an excellent picture of the lead up. As an ALP fan, makes you frustrated you can’t go back in time and tell Gough to listen to the warnings.

A wonderful piece of Australian history beautiful told. Great sound design and the way it’s contextually placed is clever. Such a shame so many of the key players are no longer here to contribute. Well done ABC

I was a 20-something when this went down, living in a madcap share house in inner-west Sydney. Everyone went ballistic. It’s only recently, and with the help of this excellent podcast, that I’m learning all the things that actually happened. can’t wait till the next episode! Bring it on!
