SUMMARY:Holmes reads the note which was sent to him by a Detective Tobias Gregson of Scotland Yard. Gregson requests that Holmes assist on a strange case that they are working on. Holmes and Watson set off to Brixton, and when the arrive at the scene, Holmes spends a good amount of time looking at the road, the grass, and the mud leading up to the house. At the house, Lestrade and Gregson show Holmes and Watson the body of a man on the floor. There are several blood splatters on the walls but the man has no signs of bodily trauma or harm. When they go to move the body, a ring falls onto the floor. Gregson tells Holmes that he has contacted the United States to inquire about the man on the floor, and another man whose name the found in a letter. Lestrade discovers the word RACHE on the wall. While Lestrade has his own hypothesis, Holmes, after investigating the room and the body, shuts him down. Holmes says that he is determined that the man was poisoned by a man who came to the house with him, and informs the detectives that RACHE is the German word for "Revenge."
