Disingenuous
I liked the first episode—despite the snippets of bad acting—because of the storytelling, the minimalist vibe, and the seeming authenticity of the narrator’s curiosity about the case/doubts about his dad. By the second, they’ve brought in the sound effects and music, ramped up the dramatizations (with very cringe over-acting). And now, with a new, high-volume, cohost, they’ve started indulging in mostly contextless speculations that seem to be leading to a boilerplate wrongful-conviction podcast thin on evidence and thick in conspiracy theories that happen to favor the family member and family friend of the host. No thanks.
