EOH
Mike is great and has lovely and genuinely funny guests. The range and detail of movies is awesome and the only slight issue I have is the moralising against current values sometimes comes across as a bit smug. This podcast is a must for horror fans especially those looking for films to fill in...Read full review »

Mike is a sublime host and always has intelligent and entertaining guests on the show. You can count on engaging and fun discussions of the horror films and his thematic focus has been a great way to analyze and appreciate horror films through the decades. This is a top-tier show!

The depiction of the escape of the of character Jonathan Harker trapped in thr castle in the novel Dracula is one of the most thrilling episodes in all of literature. Read just the first section of Dracula about Harker. You will be hooked Numpty!

This is an indispensable podcast for any horror fan (or horror-curious) podcast listener. The host is engaging, deeply versed in the genre, and treats any given movie with both the respect and/or humour it may merit. It feels like sitting down for a beer with a good friend who you kinda think...Read full review »

This podcast is an absolute gem! The hosts bring insightful discussions about the history of horror in a very informed and thought provoking way. I very recently discovered EOH when looking for in depth discussions about Longlegs but once I listen to a few episodes I knew I needed to go back to...Read full review »

Saying the Pet Sematary remake was better than the original was the craziest hot take I’ve ever heard.

Super interesting podcast. LOVE Mike and his marvellous guests. It’s pointed me at lots of great films and got me over my superstitious anxiety about The Exorcist. So thanks for that EoH 😊

I have been listening to EoH for several years now and it is by far my favourite podcast. I subscribe to the Patreon (highly recommend!) and adore all other things that Mike does (eg, The Detective and the Log Lady! Love Twin Peaks). The episodes are so well-made and thoroughly researched as well...Read full review »

‘Yeah yeah yeah’. Mike is a sycophant who is deeply unfunny, he’s all over the guests like a cheap coat. I managed minutes before turning off. Cut the ‘wit’ & just discuss the films.

This is a must listen for all film fans and has given me the courage to watch films I was always too scared to try before and many others I would never have heard of! Thank you Team Evo!

I found Evolution of Horror thanks to a link posted by Susan Calman for the Jaws sequels episode. The episode was very funny but also showed a clear appreciation and respect for the horror genre. I am now gleefully working my way through the previous episodes and reliving countless hours spent in...Read full review »

I’m relatively new to the show and have now listened to every single episode within a few weeks. Each list feels like I’m sat in a room with friends discussing our favourite films! The guests are great and I now listen to their podcasts, for example The Final Girls podcast. Mike, I agree with...Read full review »

For 8 seasons EoH was a borderline perfect podcast for horrorfans, but during season 9 I felt how it ran out of steam. The more and more pr for sideprojects does not help as well. And of course the main problem is that they‘re running out of subgenres I am interested in.

I binged all of this show last year when I discovered it, subscribed to Patreon and I’m not binging all of that content too. The quality of an episode really depends on the guest. Some cohosts have a lot to say, they are knowledgeable about films and are willing to analyze and provide insight. Some shut down discussions of sociological context or authorial intent or subtext. Others irresponsibly spread misremembered...Read full review »

I watch very little horror because I’m a wuss but I do love this show. I like the spoilers since they help me decide whether or not I can handle watching the film being discussed. I also like Mike’s sense of humor and his rapport with the guests.

There’s a lot of good stuff on the podcast, but Mike and a lot of the guests are quite annoying, and painful to listen to.
